Shipping & Duties

How your Hendwerkes piece travels from our workshop in India to your door, and what to expect at customs.

Made in India, shipped worldwide

Every Hendwerkes piece is cut, stitched and finished by hand by artisans in India and shipped from our workshop in India to customers around the world through our courier partners. Pick your country in the “Ship to” selector at the top of the site: prices, delivery options and duty information then match your destination.

A few destinations cannot be served because of courier or customs restrictions. If your country is missing from the selector or from checkout, write to our support team and we will tell you what is possible.

When your order leaves the workshop

  • Pieces in stock are checked, packed and handed to the courier within 2–3 working days.
  • Made-to-order pieces show their making time on the product page; that time is added before dispatch.
  • Personalised pieces (hand-stamped initials or names) may need one or two extra working days.

Delivery options and cost

Shipping is priced by destination, parcel weight and size. At checkout you see the live options for your address — with the courier, the price and the estimated delivery date — before you pay. You can also try the delivery estimator on any product page.

Many countries have a free-shipping threshold; the amount for your country is shown in your bag and at checkout. Bulky pieces such as drum bags are sent as larger parcels and may not count towards free shipping — this is shown on the product page.

Optional shipping insurance and signature on delivery are offered at checkout on higher-value orders where the courier supports them.

Import duties and taxes

Orders outside India may attract import duties and taxes, collected by the courier on delivery.

Depending on your country, duties are handled in one of two ways, and checkout always tells you which applies before you pay:

  • Duties paid at checkout (DDP) — the estimated import duty and tax are added to your order total, so there is nothing more to pay on delivery.
  • Duties paid on delivery (DAP) — the courier or your customs office collects any duty and tax when the parcel arrives. We show an estimate at checkout so there are no surprises.

Customs rules and rates are set by your country, not by Hendwerkes. Every parcel travels with a commercial invoice and the correct HS code, which helps it clear customs quickly.

Tracking your parcel

As soon as your parcel ships we e-mail a tracking link. You can follow it at any time under My Account → Orders, or on the Track Order page using your order number and e-mail address. We also e-mail you when it is out for delivery and when it has been delivered.

Address problems and failed delivery

Please check your address and phone number carefully — couriers use the phone number to arrange delivery. If a parcel is returned to us because of a wrong address or a refused delivery, we will contact you; re-shipping is charged at cost, and duties already paid may not be recoverable.
